Active Healthy Aging (AHA)

The Active Healthy Aging Program (AHA) is a ten week program designed free of charge for people 55 years and older to increase individual’s knowledge and participation in nutrition, physical exercise and socialization.

Groups meet for 2 hours each week and explore topics related to healthy aging and healthy lifestyle choices.  Healthy lifestyle choices can help prevent, delay or minimize the symptoms of chronic diseases.

  • Nutrition and label reading
  • Canadian Physical Guideline
  • Stress
  • Sleep
  • Fall Prevention
  • Healthy Brains
  • Vitamins
  • Arthritis
  • Gluten
  • Caring for Loved Ones

Each session is led by a nurse.  Sessions are designed to provide a balance between providing education on health related topics and exercises.  Throughout the ten weeks, participants will have the opportunity to try activities such as yoga, tai chi, the VON SMART program and learn exercises to improve balance.
